Things to Consider
- • OLED panels can be more expensive than conventional LCD gaming monitors
- • Glossy screens can show reflections in bright environments
- • OLED requires appropriate care to reduce image-retention or burn-in risk
- • 1440p resolution is lower than 4K
- • A 240Hz refresh rate is most useful when the gaming system can produce high frame rates
- • HDR experience depends on game content and viewing conditions
27-Inch 1440p OLED Display
The 27-inch 1440p OLED panel is designed to deliver strong contrast, deep blacks, and detailed gaming visuals. The QHD resolution also offers a practical balance between image detail and the high frame rates needed to take advantage of a 240Hz refresh rate.
240Hz Refresh Rate
A 240Hz refresh rate provides very fluid motion and is particularly valuable in competitive games where fast camera movement and quick reactions are important. To fully benefit from 240Hz, the connected gaming system needs to deliver sufficiently high frame rates.
0.03ms Response Time
The monitor is listed with a 0.03ms response time, supporting the fast-response characteristics expected from an OLED gaming display. Actual motion performance can vary depending on operating conditions, settings, and measurement methodology.
TrueBlack Glossy OLED
The TrueBlack Glossy presentation is designed to emphasize OLED's deep blacks and strong contrast while providing a glossy viewing experience. The glossy surface can look impressive in controlled lighting but may produce more visible reflections in bright rooms.
DisplayHDR 400 and 99% DCI-P3
DisplayHDR 400 support adds HDR capability for compatible games and media, while the listed 99% DCI-P3 coverage provides a wide color gamut. Actual HDR impact depends on content, brightness, game support, and the surrounding environment.
OLED Care Pro
OLED Care Pro provides features intended to help manage OLED panel longevity and reduce the risk associated with prolonged static content. Users should still follow the manufacturer's recommended OLED-care procedures.
Neo Proximity Sensor
The Neo Proximity Sensor is a convenience-oriented feature designed to detect user presence and support display-management functions. This can be useful for users who frequently step away from their desk during work or gaming sessions.
ELMB Sync for Gaming
ELMB Sync is designed to improve motion clarity while working with compatible variable-refresh-rate gaming setups. The usefulness of motion-blur-reduction features can vary depending on the game, refresh rate, and configuration.
PS5 and Xbox Compatibility
The monitor is designed to work with current gaming consoles including PlayStation 5 and Xbox. Console output capabilities can differ from PC configurations, so gamers should verify the supported resolution and refresh-rate combination for their specific console and connection.
Who Should Consider It?
This monitor is a strong option for PC gamers who want OLED contrast, 1440p resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, fast response characteristics, and gaming-focused features. It can also appeal to console gamers looking for a premium OLED display.
Who Should Skip It?
Users who work primarily with static desktop content for long periods and do not want to manage OLED-care features may prefer a conventional LCD monitor. A 4K monitor may also be more appropriate for users who prioritize maximum resolution over high-refresh-rate 1440p gaming.
Final Verdict
The ASUS ROG XG27AQDMGR combines 1440p resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, OLED contrast, a glossy TrueBlack presentation, DisplayHDR 400, 99% DCI-P3 coverage, and advanced OLED-care features. It is positioned as a premium gaming monitor for players who value smooth motion, fast response, deep blacks, and high-quality visuals.
